Frida Kahlo's work is a connection between Aztec traditions and Christian traditions.
For example, it is a painting from 1940 “Self Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird”, in which Kahlo wears a crown of thorns typical of Christianity and Aztec priests.
At the end of the crown of thorns hangs a dead hummingbird, a symbol of one of the Aztec gods.
